Overlay Preparation

Video Overlays (Title Treatments)

Export your title treatments from After Effects, Premiere Pro, or DaVinci Resolve:
  1. Format: ProRes 4444 (.mov) — this preserves the alpha channel
  2. Duration: Match your master video duration
  3. Resolution: Any — Versionary scales to fit the output
  4. Background: Transparent (alpha) or pure black

Export Settings by NLE

After Effects:
  • Output Module → Format: QuickTime
  • Video Codec: Apple ProRes 4444
  • Channels: RGB + Alpha
Premiere Pro:
  • Export Settings → Format: QuickTime
  • Codec: Apple ProRes 4444
  • Check “Include Alpha Channel”
DaVinci Resolve:
  • Deliver → Format: QuickTime
  • Codec: Apple ProRes 4444 XQ or 4444
  • Data Levels: Auto

Logo Files

  • Format: PNG with transparency
  • Size: At least 200px on the longest side
  • Background: Transparent

Naming Convention

Name your overlay files to match what’s in your delivery matrix. If your matrix says: 
Overlay
title_9x16.mov
title_16x9.mov
title_1x1.mov
Upload files with those exact names.

Adding Overlays to Your Batch

  1. Create your delivery matrix with Overlay and Logo columns filled in
  2. Upload your CSV/Excel file
  3. Add your video file(s)
  4. Add overlay files and logo files — drag all files into the upload area
  5. Versionary automatically matches overlay filenames to matrix rows

Verifying Assignments

On the Titles tab, each deliverable card shows:
  • ✅ Overlay matched — overlay file found and assigned
  • ⚠️ No match — no overlay file matches the matrix value
  • ✅ Logo: bottom_right — logo assigned with position
If an overlay shows “No match,” check that the uploaded filename matches what’s in your matrix.

Per-Format Overlays

Different aspect ratios typically need different overlay compositions. A 16:9 title treatment won’t look right on a 9:16 frame. Create separate overlay files for each format: 
title_16x9.mov   → 16:9 deliverables
title_9x16.mov   → 9:16 deliverables
title_4x5.mov    → 4:5 deliverables
title_1x1.mov    → 1:1 deliverables
Assign each one to the correct rows in your delivery matrix.
