Meet Verne

Verne is Versionary’s AI assistant, built specifically for post-production workflows. Instead of dragging keyframes on a timeline, you describe what you want in plain English. Verne interprets your intent, generates a preview, and applies corrections with a single command.

How It Works

After Smart Reframe generates your initial crops, open the chat panel and describe what needs to change:
1

Describe the correction

Tell Verne what needs to move and by how much.“Shift shot 5 left 20%”
2

Preview the result

Verne generates an inline frame grab showing exactly how the corrected crop looks. Review it in the chat panel.
3

Iterate if needed

Not quite right? Keep adjusting:
  • “More” — applies the same adjustment again
  • “Too much, back off to 10%” — reduces the shift
  • “Undo that” — removes the last correction
4

Apply the corrections

When you’re happy with the framing, say “apply it”. Verne re-renders the preview and updates the export files with your corrections baked in.

Supported Commands

Shift / Move

Reposition the crop window in any direction.
CommandEffect
”shift shot 5 left 20%“Moves crop 20% to the left
”move shot 3 up a little”Moves crop up 5%
“slide the crop right at :04”Moves crop right at the 4-second mark
”push it down 15%“Moves crop down 15%

Zoom

Tighten or loosen the framing.
CommandEffect
”zoom in on shot 4 by 10%“Tighter framing on shot 4
”zoom out a little”Slightly wider framing

Lock Position

Pin the crop to a specific position, overriding the AI.
CommandEffect
”lock the crop at center”Forces center framing
”lock shot 8 at 30% from the left”Pins crop at the 30% mark

Undo

Remove corrections.
CommandEffect
”undo that”Removes the last correction

Apply

Render corrections into the final output.
CommandEffect
”apply it”Re-renders preview + export with all corrections
”render that”Same as apply
”bake it in”Same as apply

Magnitude Shortcuts

You don’t need to specify exact percentages. Verne understands relative terms:
PhraseInterpreted As
”a little”5%
(no modifier)10%
“a lot”20%
“a third”33%

Stacking Corrections

Corrections accumulate. You can adjust multiple shots before applying:
  1. “shift shot 3 left 20%”
  2. “move shot 8 right 15%”
  3. “zoom in on shot 12 by 10%”
  4. “apply it” — renders all three corrections at once

Referencing Shots

You can identify shots by number or by timecode:
  • By shot number: “shift shot 5 left 20%”
  • By timecode: “move the crop right at :04”
  • By description: “the shot where he’s holding the ball — shift it left”
Verne has full context of your footage’s shot map including boundaries, durations, and content.
